As I look around, vast array of color flavors the day, & is a sort of canvas to be appreciated. Color is a detail thought out in creating dishes in the kitchen, & how I express myself in fashion, mood, or a boost of confidence when I need it. The joy it brings to the details of everyday life are sometimes overlooked, no pun intended haha. So how does this relate to FITNESS?!? Color... fitness... there is intension... purpose... just open your eyes & see -->
When I go to the gym for my workouts, the color selected in my outfit generally matches the type of workout for the day, my mood, & purpose behind that session. Is it a workout focused around power? Strength? I'd probably choose a bold color. Am I taking it down a notch & stretching with deep breathing? A soothing blue hue would be more appropriate. For you skaters & dancers out there, design a competition dress for competition, the color selected is matched according to mood, unified with music, & sets the tone for what is anticipated when they step onto the ice in front of the judges. Color has purpose even in the sport of movement.

Now, most of you know I skip around (not right now... still in surgery recovery!! Don't worry <3 ) grinning ear to ear with my APL sneakers. There is something about this brand that caught my eye when I first discovered them last year. I have proudly & happily flaunted those prized possessions, as they have gotten me through many hard lifts, HIIT workouts, & off ice training sessions. I know they are just shoes. But they are functional AND aesthetically pleasing shoes that make me happy. The ones I've owned are GOLD. SHOCKER. If you don't see this as obvious, please read my home page. This explains it haha. Or don't but it describes my heart behind what Elegant Edge Sport is all about. Anyways... these APL's are clearly not gold. So why RED my friends?
RED is the color of fire & blood.
Red is the color of fire & blood. It is associated with energy, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, & love. Red is an emotionally intense color & if you are a fitness fanatic & athlete like me, there is an intensity to everything I do. With a display of the color red, it is just an outworking of what is going on inside &/or what is intended as a goal.
The color red enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, & raises blood pressure.
The color red enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, & raises blood pressure. When walking into a workout, we each want that added kick of high energy, physical activity, fierceness, & confidence. Red is high visibility, which with these puppies, I walked in this morning bright & early 5:30am training my clients. All members of the club couldn't stop talking about my red shoes. Haha. They made people smile & are quite visible I'd say haha. Red with its brightness is shown to help make quick decisions (aka plyometrics or agility work ... hello reaction time ;) ) It is also used to indicate courage. When gazing at a fire, the radiant red hue pierces the eye & that flame refines gold to its purest form. Wherever you are at in your fitness journey, I challenge you to a little hint of red today & be refined & free.
